What a check maker does
A check maker (sometimes called a check generator or check creator) builds a check from a few details you type. A good one handles the parts that are easy to get wrong by hand:
- Your name or business, address and logo in the top-left corner.
- Your bank’s name and the check number in the right places.
- The amount written out in words, matching the numbers exactly.
- The MICR line with your routing number, account number and check number in the E-13B font, laid out to the ANSI X9 standard so bank machines can read it.
- A signature, if you want one printed.

Write your first check freeReal checks only
Quick Check Writer is for making checks on bank accounts you own or are authorized to use, for payments you actually intend to make. It isn’t a prop, novelty or “fake check” generator, and it doesn’t make cashier’s checks or pay stubs with tax calculations. Making a check on someone else’s account, or one you know won’t clear, is fraud. Used the right way, a check you make yourself is just as valid as one from a checkbook.
If someone sends you a check “by mistake” and asks you to send part of it back, that’s a well-known scam. Wait for your bank to confirm the funds have truly cleared; our guide how long does a check take to clear? explains why “available” isn’t the same as “cleared”.
Who uses a check maker
- Small businesses paying vendors and contractors without ordering pre-printed checks for every account.
- Landlords refunding deposits and paying building expenses.
- Households who need one check for a school, a contractor or a government office.
- Bookkeepers printing checks for several companies from one place.
Make it once, reuse it
Saved payees fill in with a tap, the check number counts up by itself, and every check lands in a register so you can reprint or void it later. Several to make? Add them to a batch and print three per page.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a free check maker?
Yes. Quick Check Writer makes and prints your first check free, without a watermark, an account or a credit card.
Is a check I make myself legal?
Yes, when it’s drawn on your own bank account for a real payment. Printing your own checks is legal in the US; making checks on someone else’s account is fraud.
Can I make a check and save it as a PDF?
Yes. Every check can be saved or shared as a PDF and printed later on blank check stock.
Does the check maker add the MICR line?
Yes. Your routing, account and check numbers print in the E-13B MICR font, laid out to the ANSI X9 standard.
Can I make a cashier’s check or a pay stub?
No. Cashier’s checks can only come from a bank, and the app doesn’t calculate payroll taxes. Quick Check Writer makes ordinary checks drawn on your own account, with optional voucher stubs for a memo or invoice note.
