Check printing software for Windows PC

Quick Check Writer is check printing software that runs in Edge or Chrome on Windows 10 and 11. There’s no installer, no license key and nothing for IT to approve. Add your bank once, print checks with the MICR line on blank check stock, and keep a register of every check. Your first check is free.

Check printing on a PC, without the install

Traditional Windows check programs come as downloads that need updates, licenses tied to one machine, and sometimes admin rights to install. A browser-based check printer skips all that. Open the site, and you have the same tool on your office desktop, your laptop and your phone.

It also keeps your data local: bank numbers, payees and check history are stored in the browser on your PC and never uploaded to our servers.

Features

  • Real checks with the MICR line. Your routing and account numbers print in the E-13B bank font, laid out to the ANSI X9 standard, on blank check stock.
  • Amount in words, automatically, with asterisk padding so nothing can be added.
  • Top, middle, bottom or 3 per page, and voucher stubs with your own note.
  • Your logo and signature: draw it, upload a photo, or type it in a handwriting style.
  • Payee address book, with the address placed for window envelopes.
  • Batch printing when you have several checks to run.
  • A check register of everything you print, with reprint, void and CSV export.
  • Save as PDF to print later, or to email or text a check.

Print a check from Windows in five steps

  1. Open quickcheckwriter.com in Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome and pick the free plan.
  2. Add your business (name, address, optional logo) and bank account (routing number, account number, next check number).
  3. Print the alignment test on plain paper, hold it over a sheet of check stock against a window, and adjust the offsets if needed.
  4. Fill in the check. The amount in words and the MICR line are added automatically.
  5. Print. In the Windows print dialog choose Letter paper, scale 100% (not “Fit to page”), default margins and headers and footers off.

Install it like a desktop app

In Edge, open the menu › Apps › Install this site as an app. In Chrome, click the install icon in the address bar. Quick Check Writer gets its own Start menu entry and taskbar icon, opens in its own window, and works offline after the first visit.

Printers that work

Any Windows printer that prints letter-size paper will do. Laser printers give the sharpest MICR characters and are what most businesses use for checks. If your bank asks for magnetic ink, a MICR toner cartridge for your laser printer is the usual answer; see do you need MICR ink?

For businesses and bookkeepers

Run several companies or bank accounts from one PC (up to 10 on Pro), print in batches, add voucher stubs with invoice numbers, and export the register to CSV. Pro also exports checks to QuickBooks Online (CSV) and QuickBooks Desktop (IIF) so your books match what you printed. More in how to print business checks.

Price

Your first check is free, with no watermark and no account. After that, printed checks show “SAMPLE – NOT VALID” until you choose a plan: Basic $1.99 a month (1 bank account), Personal $2.99 (2 accounts) or Pro $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year (up to 10 companies, plus QuickBooks export), with a 7-day free trial on Pro for new customers.
